Case study

About Client

A large elementary school in Irving, Texas, reached out to us for a structured cabling upgrade to support its safety and communication systems. The school required reliable connectivity as the number of students was growing. The top priorities for this project were safety, efficiency, and uninterrupted learning of students and staff.

Client Challenges

The client faced several challenges in its school, which in turn impacted the students’ and staff’s safety and efficiency. Have a look at the challenges our client faced.

The existing cabling infrastructure of the school was insufficient to handle the additional controllers and strobe systems. The school required future-ready cabling to support their growing demands.

Scalability needs

The existing cabling infrastructure of the school was insufficient to handle the additional controllers and strobe systems. The school required future-ready cabling to support their growing demands.
The school had safety systems such as emergency strobes, but the issue was that the strobes depended on reliable network connectivity. This means any downtime or connectivity issues would compromise the safety of the students and the staff.

Reliability concerns

The school had safety systems such as emergency strobes, but the issue was that the strobes depended on reliable network connectivity. This means any downtime or connectivity issues would compromise the safety of the students and the staff.
The next challenge was the project's timeline. The school came to us with a strict timeline and wanted the project to be completed within one week. This made things difficult for us and left no room for any delays or rework.

Another challenge was to ensure that the installation is done according to the best practices, such as terminations, patch panel punch downs, and protective measures like protective cages for strobes and exposed devices.

Solutions We Devised

Depending on the challenges our client faced in school, our team designed solutions that met the brief. We made sure that our solutions not only address their needs but also ensure performance and reliability.

Cable selection

We selected Cat6a cabling for the school as it has high bandwidth, low interference, and also caters to the school’s current as well as future demands.

Structured layout

We ensured proper coverage across the school by planning and implementing the 100+ runs for controllers and 200+ cable runs from controllers to strobes.

Installation based on standards

We made sure that each of the cables was properly terminated, and the patch panels were punched down at the controller end. Not only this, but we also terminated at the strobe end.

Project management

We had a strict timeline for the project, due to which we assigned our team in coordinated phases. Throughout the installation, we focused on cable routing, terminations, and testing, and made sure we were done with everything within one week.

Scope of work:

Here’s the scope of work for this project.

  • Run 100+ Cat6a cables for building controllers.
  • We installed all the controllers, strobes.
  • Install 200+ Cat6a cables from controllers to strobes across two floors.
  • Punch down all cables into the patch panels
  • Terminate cables at the end.
  • Test the connections at last to see if they are working as expected or not.

Results and Impact

We completed the project in the timeline given to us and made sure that the school was ready just like the client expected it to be. Here are the results and impact.

We properly installed and tested cat6a cables so that the strobes and controllers now work smoothly and have reduced the risk of downtime.

Better safety and reliability

We properly installed and tested Cat6a cables so that the strobes and controllers now work smoothly and have reduced the risk of downtime.
We made sure that the client’s school was ready for the future and that the school can expand its system in the future whenever the need arises without spending on rewiring.

Future-ready infrastructure

We made sure that the client’s school was ready for the future and that the school can expand its system in the future whenever the need arises without spending on rewiring.
Our technicians throughout the installation made sure that the industry regulations were met properly, and there was no risk of maintenance issues with proper terminations and patch panel punch-downs.

Compliance and durability

Our technicians throughout the installation made sure that the industry regulations were met properly, and there was no risk of maintenance issues with proper terminations and patch panel punch-downs.

Peace of mind

The school leaders were satisfied and had the peace of mind they needed to focus on students’ education, knowing their safety infrastructure is now secure.

This is how we, along with our team, helped a team with structured cabling within the deadline and ensured the safety and efficiency.
